Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
In what insurance plans are you a participating provider?
We are currently credentialed providers for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of IL PPO, PHCS, Integrated Health Plan, Cigna, Beech Street, First Health and Multiplan. Our participation in these networks are subject to change so please contact the office for the most up-to-date enrollment.
Does Blue Cross/Blue Shield cover my visits?
Dr. Hancock, Dr. Chen, and Dr. Castillo are providers for Blue Cross/Blue Shield (BC/BS) PPO. A deductible and co-payment may be required. BC/BS pays for most laboratory tests, but some of the specialty tests may not be covered. BC/BS does not cover acupuncture, vitamins or other "personal comfort items" as well as several other services. Please contact our office for more information on BC/BS coverage. You’ll be expected to pay for any services not covered.
Does Medicare cover my visits?
We do accept assignment for Medicare, and Medicare will reimburse for spinal manipulation only. Medicare will not reimburse for any other service provided by any doctor of chiropractic in any state; no exceptions. Specifically; exams, x-rays, massage and physical therapies are not a covered benefit when provided by a doctor of chiropractic. Please contact our office for more information on Medicare coverage. You’ll be expected to pay for any services not covered.
Do you accept HMOs?
We are not HMO providers. However, it may be possible to access the plan's "out-of-network" benefit with a referral from your Primary Care Provider (PCP).
What about insurance coverage for other services?
Services such as acupuncture, orthopedic braces, orthopedic pillows, crutches and home exercise devices are usually not covered by insurers. Upon request, we will provide receipts for patients to self-submit for reimbursement. In addition, nutritional and herbal products are generally not covered under pharmacy benefits.
Will you bill my insurance for me?
As a service to you, we submit claims to your insurance company. However, you are responsible for any portion of the claim not reimbursed by your insurance.
Will my HSA or FSA pay for non-covered services?
Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts often pay for healthcare services and products that your health insurance will not cover. Because of this, we encourage patients to enroll in HSA’s when they are offered by your employer. We will provide documentation of medical necessity to facilitate reimbursement. Check with your program administrator or our office for more information.
